Minnesota’s new PELSB (Professional Educators Licensing and Standards Board) teacher certification standards have been exposed as requiring newly certified Minnesota teachers to affirm and teach fundamentally Marxist principles that may violate their own beliefs, “Unmasking Minnesota’s Teacher Licensing Standards.”
A recent article by Joy Pullmann, Executive Editor of The Federalist bluntly exposes these new standards as effectively banning Christians, Muslims, and Jews from teaching in Minnesota public schools.
Now, Governor Walz is under fire for Macalester College professor Brian Lozenski, the ethnic studies leader nationally, serving as “the de facto leader” of Minnesota’s Ethnic Studies Working Group, ( “Tim Walz Education Appointee Calls for Overthrow of United States”). [Lozenski pictured below.]
Members of the Working Group are all appointed by Governor Walz. They are writing the “implementation framework” for the Ethnic Studies requirement, a new mandate passed by the Minnesota Democrats in 2023 for instruction in every grade from K-12 in every public school. Charter schools are included, because they are also public schools. The PELSB teacher certification standards also require the teaching the Ethnic Studies standards.
In a videotaped presentation, Lozenski defines Critical Race Theory (CRT) by stating:
The first tenet of critical race theory is that the United States as constructed is irreversibly racist. So if the nation-state as constructed is irreversibly racist, then it must be done with, it must be overthrown, right. And so we can’t be like, “Oh no, critical race theory is just about telling our stories and divers[ity].” It’s not about that. It’s about overthrow. It’s insurgent. And we, we need to be, I think, more honest with that. … You can’t be a critical race theorist and be pro-U.S. Okay, it is an anti-state theory that says, The United States needs to be deconstructed, period. [The video of Lozenski calling for the overthrow of America was removed from YouTube late on September 25th.]
Center of the American Experiment’s Katherine Kersten exposed the CRT foundation of Ethnic Studies two years ago, “Doubling down on CRT.” Governor Walz’ PELSB Board “stacked the committee with political activists, community organizers and their allies, who dominated the process,” Kersten said.
The inclusion of Ethnic Studies marks a victory for forces seeking to radically remake Minnesota’s public schools. Ethnic Studies goes beyond the standard “anti-racist” Critical Race Theory (CRT) focus, especially in its stress on student political activism: “disrupting,” “dismantling” and “transforming” our nation’s fundamental institutions. It imports the whole ideological thought world from which CRT sprang, and serves as a vector for the activist network that is driving it nationally.
Lozensky’s description of CRT applies equally to Minnesota’s new teacher certification standards and to Minnesota’s entire “equity-based” education system. His description of CRT erases any doubt about the Walz administration’s intention of remaking our schools to transform our young people into activists to overthrow the U.S. government.
This means that Minnesota colleges and universities cannot in good conscience train and state-certify prospective Minnesota teachers, because Minnesota certification now requires the support, teaching, and participation in the overthrow of the U.S. government. Similarly, parents of school age children cannot in good conscience enroll their children in Minnesota public schools where they will be taught to support and participate in the overthrow of the U.S. government.
Yes it is time to say their agenda BEFORE the election.
There is a lot of very bad stuff going on within the current administration.
